Smeatharpe Stadium - Sunday 11th October 2009

The gloomy weather at Smeatharpe made for a very damp day, but some fine racing from the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars and Ministox was supported by a bumper showing of Bangers, whose car turnout was in excess of 70 cars.

BriSCA F2 Stock Cars

The F2 races started with the White & Yellow series grand final, in which 14 Mike Priddle edged ahead of 31 Simon Bassett and looked to be cruising, but in the latter stages, 116 Ashley Rundle closed dramatically. As the last lap board appeared, Priddle bungled an attempt to shift 246 Scott Horsham, which left the door open for Rundle to dash past, as Priddle scrambled home for second and Bassett completed the top three. 464 Matt Linfield sped to the chequered flag in heat two, but he was docked for a jump start, and that promoted 676 Neil Hooper into the winner's place.
Linfield responded by comfortably winning heat three.
The Rock ‘N' Sole Fish Bar sponsored final saw 909 Andy Cattell as the race leader, chased by 76 Chris Rowe, but Linfield moved ahead just after midway. 886 Chris Bradbury got up to second, but he could not reduce Linfield's advantage by much and Linfield duly saw out the closing stages to score a first ever Smeatharpe final win, and one that earned him a return to the red grade. Bradbury took the runner-up place, and a late run by Hooper brought him third.
254 Richard Beere ended the meeting with a fine win in the Grand National.

Bangers

A huge showing of 73 Bangers contested their final Smeatharpe meeting of the season. Heat wins went to 991 Ben Hale, 186 Leon Fasey and track debutant 77 Troy Holley. The consolation brought 42 Dave England another home track success. In the Dealer Support Group sponsored final, Hale again made rapid progress and he went on to charge clear to a heat and final double, with 154 Barry Pike the runner-up and Fasey third. The win guaranteed the Track Championship title for Hale.
43 drivers contest the Allcomers, in which 153 Rachel Tavender rolled over. Fasey went on to take the win the restarted race.

Ministox

The penultimate outing of the season for the youngsters in the Ministox proved very competitive, with lots of hard fought battles.
After 991 Ryan Hoskin had taken the opening heat, it was 938 Ashley Rice who scored a heat and final double, winning each time ahead of 960 Dale Moon and 979 Paul Moss.
