A Day To Triumph

In response to many, many calls for this meeting, the National Bangers have an excellent opportunity to be fully involved on the night of the Saloon Stock Car World Championship at Smeatharpe on Saturday 11 August.

For the National Bangers, this meeting will be A Day To Triumph.

Where the Triumph was once THE car to have in westcountry Banger racing, it is now something of an oddity - essentially not up to the job of competing against Jaguars, Volvos, etc in the unlimited cc class, and not really considered a match for the Ford Mondeo or Ford Cougar in 2-litre National Bangers, the options for using the bigger Triumph (typically the Triumph 2000cc, or Triumph 2.5PI) are fairly scarce.

Hence, A Day To Triumph...when we hope to see lots and lots of old Triumphs grace the track at Smeatharpe.  To help drivers along the way to tracking down a car, there is a sensational Start Money offer of £100 to the first 30 drivers who book in.  However, entering for this meeting can only be done by way of the Booking Form - which is available here to download.

Drivers will need to submit a photograph of the Triumph they intend to race, along with the registration number.  Remember - there is £100 Start Money for the first 30 drivers who book in using this clearly prescribed process.

Get searching for that Triumph now.  An engine swap is permitted, where a 2-litre Pinto is used to replace the original.

Five places were snapped up within days of this meeting being announced, and more places have been taken up since.  The entry has now exceeded the first dozen Triumphs, with interest from the westcountry, the Midlands and East Anglia.
