BriSCA F2 Grand National Championship

After a wait of 38 years, the Grand National Championship for BriSCA F2 Stock Cars will finally return to Smeatharpe, when it will be the opening race of the rescheduled Sunday 25 October fixture.

Discussions about the Grand National Championship have been ongoing within the BriSCA F2 hierarchy in recent weeks.  On the original 2020 fixture list, the event had been allocated to Autospeed, and was set to be raced on 19 September.  Whilst many of the BriSCA F2 Championships have understandably been rolled forward to 2021, the Grand National Championship was one major title event which was very much available to be staged this year.  Autospeed offered to relinquish the event to be run at Sheffield, as a fitting climax to the 2020 season, but once it became apparent that Sheffield was not going to be able to open its doors in time on the grounds of being a designated sports stadium, the Grand National Championship was once more on the Autospeed desk.

Autospeed have subsequently made a change to planned fixtures.  Sunday 18 October has been postponed.  This opens the door for the F2 fixture at Hednesford on that day to be a solus event.  Autospeed wish Incarace well in looking to attract a significant entry of drivers to the venue for its first F2 date of 2020.

The 18 October fixture at Smeatharpe has thus been rescheduled one week later, on a day that is vacant for BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, which thereby ensures the Grand National Championship will enjoy solus date status.
