BriSCA F2 Smeatharpe Track Championship

The outcome of the BriSCA F2 Stock Car Track Championship at Smeatharpe, and the Factored Track Championship, will be determined on 9 October 2016.

542 Steven Gilbert leads the way in the Track Championship.  He is 2 points ahead of 315 Justin Fisher, who is suspended, and 10 points clear of 24 Jon Palmer.

Even though Palmer and Gilbert have been good friends on track and off, Palmer has told his rival that he has the title in his sights.  Palmer revealed, "I explained to Steven that I want to win the Track Championship, and to do that, I need to outscore him on Sunday (9 October).  In effect, the gloves are off!"

It is Palmer who leads the Factored Track Championship.  He is 29 points ahead of Gilbert.  As Star grade drivers, the points they score on 9 October will be multiplied by a factor of 2.  However, 352 Dave Sansom sits third on the chart.  As a yellow top, the points he scores on 9 October will be multiplied by a factor of 4.

So, whilst, Sansom trails Palmer by 44 points, it is not an insurmountable gap, under the multiplication factor system.
Along with 575 Tom Clark, Palmer, Gilbert and Sansom featured together in heat two of the 14 August meeting at Smeatharpe, which has been widely regarded as the race of the year (see below).
