Nemesis Interview
The 2012 Winter Open raceday programme (see right) is going to be a very special edition to start the new year.
The programme will carry a hugely entertaining 4-page interview with National Banger driver #239 Steven Carter, winner of the Autospeed Points Championship and Entertainer's League, in 2011.
Excerpts from this fascinating interview, conducted by racer-turned-commentator, Jon Wyatt, can be read here in advance every day in the run-up to the meeting on Sunday 29 January at Smeatharpe Stadium.

JW - You are a hard man to catch (I say to him, after countless calls to his mobile)
SC - Well I had a difficult weekend! Representing The South in the annual Civil War at Hednesford is the cause.
SC - Problems with the car (a Lexus) before the meeting, blowing the engine at the meeting (before the actual start), changed the 2.9 for a 2.8 just in time to get out for the combined final/DD.
(Now that's dedication)
JW - It's a long way to go.
SC - Yeh, but that's racing.
JW - How did you get on?
SC - Parked on the bend and hit as many Northerners as I could.
(You can just tell from the tone of his voice that this was what it was all about!)
JW - Now, as a man that has raced many cars, what is your favourite tool?
SC - That's easy (thank goodness!!) – it has to be a Series 3 XJ - and with the original 4.2.
JW - Do you like the Mondeo for racing?
SC - Not really, I much prefer rear-wheel drive cars to be honest.

JW - Of the current drivers who do you most admire and why?
SC - Obviously I am going to say Steve (Pikey) - because he is an all round driver and you just cannot knock him.
JW - Somehow I knew you were going to say that, and I can certainly understand why, but anyone outside of the team?
SC - I do rate Shane Davies (Condoms) and brother Andy Davies, they always give as good as they get and always come out smiling.
JW - Any driver you particularly DON'T like?
SC - Yes!
JW - Really?
