RIP - Ron Trickey

Autospeed were extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Ron Trickey, on 28 September.

Whilst Ron raced regularly at Newton Abbot - notably in the Bangers, and at other venues (such as St Austell) many years ago, his contribution to Autospeed in more recent years has been his outstanding groundwork skills.  Ron's stunning digger work has helped to shape Smeatharpe, St Day and even the abandoned project at Wrangaton.  At Smeatharpe in particular, the development of the spectator banking areas, and the reconfiguration of the pit area in particular, have all advanced so wonderfully because of Ron's craftsmanship on both heavy and light plant. As many Autospeed personnel would testify, working with Ron was fun, intriguing and at times educational, with Ron himself doing a lot of the educating!

Ron's son Barry raced in Bangers, Saloon Stock Cars and Stock Rods with Autospeed, whilst Ron's grandson Lewis is the reigning English Champion in the Stock Rods..

A throwback to a different era, Ron's infectious personaltiy and no-nonsense approach to work and to life, will be sorely missed by all.

The funeral details have been confirmed:
Monday 21 October at St Peters Chapel, Exeter Crematorium at 3.30pm
To be followed by a wake at the Railway Club, 172 Cowick Street, St Thomas, Exeter, EX4 1AA (parking in St Thomas shopping precinct).
Ron Trickey
