V8 Stock Cars

After a quarter of a century being 'on tour', Autospeed will be on home ground for Good Friday 2020.

The 10 April fixture at Smeatharpe will see an incredible start to the Easter period, when BriSCA F2 Stock Cars and Saloon Stock Cars are joined in the westcountry by V8 Stock Cars and National Ministox.

For 12 years (1995-2006), Autospeed's Good Friday fixture was held at Ringwood Raceway.  From 2007 onwards, the event moved to Northampton.  However, the switch to a shale track resulted in National Hot Rods being withdrawn from the programme.  In 2019, despite featuring some outstanding action-packed racing on a beautiful sunny day, the 2019 Good Friday meeting only attracted a modest crowd of racegoers.  The meeting was barely viable financially, and Autospeed were left to take the disappointing next step of bringing the Easter association with Northampton to a halt.  Nonetheless Autospeed would like to record its eternal thanks to Incarace for making Northampton available, and for making the annual visit such a fun-filled event - Autospeed will miss working alongside the Incarace staff.

Hence, Good Friday 2020 will see Autospeed at one of their two mainstay venues, and the news that the V8 Stock Cars are going to visit for the first time ever is set to raise interest and enthusiasm in the fixture.  What's more, it is a 5.00pm start time, so there's no rush to open Easter eggs before racing, and for the drivers who are due to travel long distances to the south west, the delayed start time should make their journeys a little less fraught.
