We Are Back 2022

Cornwall Council have confirmed that the 2022 Stock Car & Banger racing season at the United Downs Raceway, St Day will go ahead.

The Save United Downs Raceway campaign has been ongoing since a planning application for a rum storage facility on the site was lodged on the Cornwall Council planning portal in November 2020.  That application was issued with a deemed refusal in October 2021.

Over 11,000 signatures have so far been collected on an online petition to Save United Downs Raceway, and the efforts of the campaign have been rewarded by way of a new lease which will ensure the Raceway can be used in 2022, as opposed to being left idle - a move that would have been the ultimate paradox - an Asset of Community Value, to which the local community were denied access.

Happily, though, Autospeed can look to scheduling an exciting season of Stock Car & Banger racing at the Raceway, which first staged Stock Car racing over 50 years ago in 1969.
