12th October 2008 (Smeatharpe Stadium)

Smeatharpe Stadium - Sunday 12th October 2008

The pit area at Smeatharpe was jam-packed with competitors for the penultimate fixture of the season, which included a record-breaking entry of Bangerstox.

BriSCA F2 Stock Cars
Over 40 F2s served up an action-packed quintet of races, with the feature event necessitating four complete re-runs.
167 Bill Batten won the opening heat, and 127 matt Stoneman won an exciting White & Yellow grade final.
After 909 Andy Cattell and 992 Ian Jefferies had made it a white top one-two in the consolation, the final was littered with incidents, including a rollover for 877 Eddie Darby.  Cars fell by the wayside as the race progressed, with 38 David Polley storming to the chequered, ahead of 497 Piers Cockerill and 14 Mike Priddle.
Another exciting race concluded the day for the F2s, as 78 Henry King romped home in the Grand National.

Saloon Stock Cars
The westcountry season for Saloon Stock Cars came to a close with a lively showing.  The White & Yellow grade final went the way of 30 Barry Hollett, ahead of World Champion 720 Shane Brown scoring a hat-trick of wins in the meeting proper.  In the final, 199 Phil Powell stole the runner-up place on the last bend, with a timely challenge on National Champion 402 Shaun Webster.

Small Van Bangers
Regrettably, the switch to small van Bangers did not yield many competitors, but having scooped Best Presented awards, 55 Oggy, 88 Woody and 190 Pikey set about one another with smiles and tenacity.  Pikey's showing was first class, as he won the race, and then the DD.

Bangerstox
The record car count for Bangerstox was smashed, as 84 drivers contested their eleventh and penultimate round of qualifying for the Supreme Championship.
There was a heat and final double for 382 Danny Hunt, whilst 475 Ben Sealy extended his lead in the Points Championship, and also secured the Smeatharpe Track Championship.
