26th October 2008 (Smeatharpe Stadium)

Smeatharpe Stadium - Sunday 26th October 2008

Poor weather in the morning eventually cleared and finally brought a dry track for the later races of the final meeting of the season at Smeatharpe, which saw Posh Wash clinch the Teamarama X title in the Bangers, and 105 Ross Rowe land his first F2 final win of the year to secure the highly coveted Ladies Trophy.

For the second successive meeting, the number of F2s exceeded the 40-car mark, and again, racegoers were treated to a thrilling afternoon of action.
There was a win on his home track in the opening heat, for 14 Mike Priddle, and 393 Chris Cuming overcame 830 Andrew Bennett in heat two which helped put the seal on Cuming winning the Smeatharpe Track Championship.
In the consolation, 246 Scott Horsham scored the second white grade win of the afternoon, as he won by a convincing margin.
During the course of a hotly contested Ladies Trophy final, the track dried, and the closing stages were very fast.  105 Ross Rowe overhauled long time leader 954 Jamie Beere, and survived some frantic late moments when 886 Chris Bradbury closed on him, but could not effect any kind of challenge.  Rowe's win was his first this year from the star grade.
642 Dave Luscombe completed the afternoon with a comprehensive victory in the Grand National.

Stock Rods
125 Mike Hibberd successfully defended the Grand National Championship for Stock Rods.  Hibberd saw off a spirited challenge from 37 Barry Trickey on a difficult track.  Trickey held on for second, but was some distance behind when the chequered flag fell, and 916 Luke Thomas completed the top three.

Bangers
The Banger entry fell a little way short of 40 cars for this year's Teamarama, and the contest ebbed and flowed during the course of three fiercely contested heats.
Amongst the stars of the day were 249 Darren Brock, who took tremendous punishment, particularly in the DD, but still ran out the winner when the last of his attackers failed to finish him off; 10 Paul Whiteman who wrecked assorted cars during the course of the day; 190 Steve Bailey who dished out plenty of hits, and was on the receiving end of a few also; and 372 Jay Matthews who was the top individual points scorer on the day, and that contributed greatly to Posh Wash lifting the Teamarama X title.
