The traditional large Bank Holiday crowd was affected by poor weather right up until start time, after which, conditions improved. Almost 30 Micro Bangers produced an entertaining show, and the Saloon Stock Cars were again in great form as the countdown continued to their World Championship in August.  

Saloon Stock Cars
Yet again, visiting drivers, from East Anglia, the North and even Scotland, helped create a lively entry for the latest Saloon Stock Car date, which boasted the West of England Championship first up, and then the annual Club 21 sponsored final for good measure. A brilliant last bend finish saw 401 Steve Webster retain the West of England title - his deft nudge proving to be enough to spin long time leader 528 Ian Govier. Heat two, on a drier track, saw 83 Michael Bethune win at Smeatharpe for the first time since he had visited in his Ministox days, and English Champion 402 Shaun Webster kept up his fine form at the World Final venue with victory in the final.

Micro Bangers
Three triples, and the vintage car quad of Austin A40 Somersets had the crowd enthralled in the annual Micro Bangers Triples race, which was won this year by 24 Andrew Waters, 44 John Vernon and 388 Darren Ruby. Thereafter, 242 Ben Ellacott won a heat and 66 Dave Spooner took a heat and final double, before 159 Dan Godley used his old A40 Somerset to get the better of 190 Steve Bailey in the DD.

Stock Rods
The Stock Rod races featured 244 Ian Frampton in his Starlet, and his first outing of the year proved an exciting one, as he was heavily involved in all three races. 642 Simon Jones notched a heat and Grand National double, to re-ignite his liking for Smeatharpe, but it was blue graders 264 Steve Olden and 193 Chris Drake who led home 550 Matt Phillips in the final.

Ministox
971 Jason Cox won twice in the Ministox, and placed second to 922 Sam Porter in the other heat.
