Monday 25th August 2008 (Smeatharpe Stadium)

Smeatharpe Stadium - Monday 25th August 2008

The August Bank Holiday Monday crowd were treated to an exemplary display of BriSCA F2 Stock Car racing by National Points Champion 7 Gordon Moodie, on a day when the Bangerstox again turned out in huge numbers, the Ministox contested an exciting Devon Championship, and there was much fun to be had with the Ramp Rollover Competition.

BriSCA F2 Stock Cars
A virtuoso performance by National Points Champion 7 Gordon Moodie saw him score his sixth successive final win at Smeatharpe in as many visits.  Moodie easily won his heat and then reeled in long time leader 127 Matt Stoneman to take the feature final, and lift the Club 21 annual trophy.  Speaking on the mic afterwards, Moodie revealed that he had been inspired by the fact that one of his boyhood heroes, Chalky White, was watching from the sidelines.
Moodie followed up his heat and final double by scoring a last bend win in the Grand National, to post a 50-point maximum, and also win the John Gregory Memorial Shield.

Ministox
After heat wins for 995 Ben Goddard and 981 Vicky Butcher, visiting drivers filled the top three places in the Devon Championship for the Ministox.  370 Kyle Overy won the title, to add to his success in the Cornish Championship the day before, whilst 124 Oliver Skeels and 172 Bryson Walker took the other two rostrum places.

Bangerstox
A bumper showing of 78 Bangerstox made for busy grids of cars in all seven of their races.
479 Jamie Jenkin bounced back from his recent suspension, to score a fine victory in the final, but it was 475 Ben Sealy who was the biggest success story of the day, as he top scored to move clear in the Points Championship.

Ramp Rollover Competition
Five entrants in the Ramp Rollover Competition made for some light hearted Bank Holiday fun.
775 Nozzy enlisted the help of 619 Ross Thomas to get a little more speed out of his Morris Minor on his second attempt at the ramp, and that helped Nozzy score four sides, as his car rolled all the way over and back on to its wheels.  That was enough for Nozzy to claim the overall victory.
