BriSCA F2 Stock Cars A huge entry of 90 drivers made for packed grids in all races. All three qualifying heats went to white tops, as 394 David Franklin scored a maiden victory in heat one, and 903 Mike Spence and 445 Nigel Green accounted for heats two and three respectively. The low grade success continued as 806 Paul Hemming became the fourth successive white top winner in the opening consolation. First over the line in consolation two was 44 Chris Cort, but he failed the offset axle check, and that handed 702 Allen Cooper the chequered flag. After something of an ordinary showing in his heat, National Points Champion 7 Gordon Moodie was in unstoppable form for the final, and duly claimed the Tommy Pitcher Memorial Trophy, ahead of 464 Matt Linfield and 761 Richard Bowyer. A 45-car Grand National completed proceedings in which Bowyer held on to a last bend challenge from 469 Ian Chalkley to win by a very narrow margin. Saloon Stock Cars Another robust showing from the Saloon Stock Cars brought a trio of different race winners. Nearly 40 drivers were present, and first blood went to 369 Andy Santry, who took the opening heat. The second race included some stunning action, notably as 83 Mad Mike Bethune shot down the back straight on two wheels, hugging the fence as he did so. A fine charge from 499 David Aldous brought him the victory, despite one or two difficult moments with backmarkers in the closing stages. There then followed a very convincing display in the final, from 711 Michael Mallett, who stormed to the chequered, winning from 419 Luke Grief and National Points Champion 402 Shaun Webster. National Hot Rods Very impressive numbers of National Hot Rods made for some busy races. Heat wins were recorded by 155 Lee Pepper (his first ever National Hot Rod win), 31 Dick Hillard who held off a spirited charge by Pepper in heat two, and 742 Graham Luscombe took the third. A controversial final saw Luscombe win once more, as he got to the chequered ahead of Hillard and 59 Simon Bentley.
