Easter Sunday 23rd March 2008

United Downs Raceway - Sunday 23rd March 2008
In bitterly cold conditions, Aftermath star 602 Shaun Cooper produced one of the all-time wonder displays of Banger racing, as he not only landed the 2008 Boneshayker title, but contributed hugely to an action-packed day at the United Downs Raceway, St Day.  Cooper was truly exceptional, and was by far the Man of the Meeting in the Jackson's Landscape Design sponsored fixture.

Over 80 drivers contested this year's Boneshayker, which received universal praise and commendation.
The action was breath-taking at times, and featured some of the biggest crashes ever seen at the United Downs Raceway.
There were the trademark smart cars on display, whilst teenager 804 Treve Wills stole the show with his remarkable Saab Limo, widely believed to be the first of its kind ever to be raced.
147 Phil Purdy looked on course for the Boneshayker title, until he encountered the loitering 746 Keith Painter, who managed to hinder Purdy.  That promoted 206 Matt Kelly into the lead, but he too fell foul of the playful Painter.  Subsequently, 602 Shaun Cooper took up the running, and secured the title, ahead of 273 Stuart Emery and 190 Steve Bailey.
262 Buddy James won a hard-fought DD, when he saw off 341 Andrew Jones for victory to end a truly memorable day.

Saloon Stock Cars
Boosted by a significant number of visiting drivers, the Saloon Stock Cars produced their own robust display, with plenty of hard-hitting action.
402 Shaun Webster scored a heat and final double to lift the Western Championship, but he was thwarted in an exciting finish to heat two, when his last lap challenge on race leader 661 Graeme Shevill saw them both tangle briefly, and that opened the door for 103 Chris Horwell to steal a sensational victory on the final bend.

Ministox
A typically gutsy display by 925 Jordan Pattison finally brought some reward, as he held on to win the opening heat for the youngsters, and so claim a career first victory.
Heat two went to 985 Amy Deeble, with 991 Ryan Hoskin second once more.
The final brought a doubling up of success for Deeble, as she headed home 960 Dale Moon and 971 Jason Cox.
Newcomers 938 Ashley Rice and 995 Ben Goddard each enjoyed competent debut outings.
