United Downs Raceway - near Redruth TR16 5HU

Sunday 28 July 13:00

One of the highlights of summer at the United Downs Raceway is the annual Cornish Caravan Chaos event, in aid of Handstand - the appeal for Marshall Janson.  This year's meeting will also feature Saloon Stock Cars, Back 2 Basics Bangers and the non-contact Stock Rods.  The day's line-up will be completed by the infant racers in the BriSCA Micro F2 Stock Cars.

Southern Motorsport

Southern Motorsport, who are suppliers of overalls, gloves, balaclavas, neck supports, goggles, etc and other driver racewear, will be in attendance.
They also stock other items which contribute to keeping race cars mobile and on track ready to carry on racing.

Cornish Caravan Chaos

The day's rainbow theme is based on the foundation of Handstand: The Appeal for Marshall Janson, which has been inter-connected with the Cornish Caravan Chaos event at the United Downs Raceway for many, many years.

Somewhere in the region of a dozen caravans will be raced to destruction and oblivion in one of the craziest races you will ever see.
The winner of the race will receive the Marshall Janson Award, which is a splendid wooden shield, detailing lots of history.
Last year's winner was 79 Brian Edmond.

Look out for the 1st Truro Cub Pack caravan which will feature in this year's race.

Saloon Stock Cars

The Saloon Stock Cars will race at St Day for the third time this season, but also for the penultimate time this season.
The meeting comes 24 hours after the latest fixture at Smeatharpe, and a small number of drivers from outside the westcountry are looking to make the most of their trip to the region, with two meetings in as many days.
Former European Champion 56 Georgie Boult Jnr is looking to continue his fine attendance record with another Cornish visit.
There is a track debut planned by 50 Ben Murray, who only entered the Saloon Stock Car fray in early June.
Local interest will centre on Cornish racer 980 Charlie Lobb, whilst 944 Callum Hosie is set for a guest outing at the wheel of the loaned Adam Hicks car.

Raceday Programme

In the Five Years Ago section of the Raceday Programme, memories from the 27 July 2014 meeting will be noted.  99 Martin Trevorrow swept to a heat and final double in the Stock Rods, but this was Cornish Caravan Chaos day.  Can you recall just how many caravans filled the track at the start of the race?
