Natures Rare Treasures

Continuing the collaboration between the United Downs Raceway and the United Downs Environmental Group (UDEG), Nature's Rare Treasures (incorporating Children On Wheels) was held on Sunday 28 June.

Educational talks in the morning at Crofthandy Village Hall were given by Dr Colin French - the West Cornwall Recorder for the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland, Dr Marcus Rhodes - Chair of Cornwall Butterfly Conservation, and Matt Stribley - Regional Recorder for Cornwall with the British Bryological Society

After a light lunch, served by Food Troops, all involved headed across to the United Downs Raceway for Exploratory Nature Tours.

To end the afternoon, Children On Wheels offered the opportunity for youngsters to make use of he circuit, by riding bikes and scooters and go-karts around the track.  More than 40 children had a hugely enjoyable time, many of whom had never previously been to the Raceway.

The Junior Banger of 511 Lexi Crosbie, the Ministox of 182 Mickey James and 218 Rory Pearce and the BriSCA Micro F2s of 131 Letty McAleer and 133 Lacey McAleer were each on display on the infield, and these attracted huge interest.
