Making Space For Nature

On Sunday 4 October, the Stock Car and Banger racing community is invited to work alongside the United Downs Environmental Group (UDEG) and Cornwall Butterfly Conservation for another collaborative project - Making Space For Nature.

Working with other groups in the community is a vital part of the future of the United Downs Raceway.

10.00am
The Raceway will open and welcome early arrivals.
Race teams will park cars and tow vehicles in the pit area as normal.

10.30am
The start of scrub clearance.  This is in an area to the north of the Raceway and will be accessed through the site fencing behind Race Control.  Swwathes of invasive Buddleia and Cotoneaster will be cleared.  Everyone connected with the Raceway - drivers, race teams, spectators are encouraged to contribute some time to this project.  If attending, be dressed appropriately, and so much the better if you can be armed with your own tools.

12 noon
The start of Junior Training on track.
This is solely for infant/junior racers – hence BriSCA Micro F2s, Junior Bangers and Ministox.
Categorically no adult racers.
Drivers will only be permitted on track once they have signed in.
To obtain a wrist band, there will be a small fee to fund Insurance, Medical Cover, Officials, AND a voucher from the UDEG group to show that the driver’s team has contributed to the Scrub Clearance.

1.30pm
The end of Junior Training on track.
Drivers who are willing to leave their race cars on display on the infield are encouraged to do so.

1.30pm
The start of Children on Wheels
Youngsters will be invited to make use of the track with bikes, scooters, etc.
This is very much a FUN segment of the day when youngsters (many of whom will be occasional or first time visitors to the Raceway) will be invited to look at the race cars on display on the infield, to wave flags from the Starter’s rostrum, and to take photos on the 1-2-3 podium.
