In summer sunshine, the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars contested the annual Remembering Rog fixture and the Minstox were on Cornish Championship duty. However, it was the spectacular 2 Litre National Bangers that stole the day with another display of heavy crashing to keep racegoers regally entertained.

Heat one was led by 572 James Lindsay, whilst 510 Matt Stone spun in the pits bend early on. 315 Charlie Fisher and 980 Charlie Lobb sped past Lindsay as the race moved into its final third, and that is how they finished in the top two positions. Lindsay led heat two beyond the midway point also, and only 890 Paul Rice managed to reel him in before the flag fell. There was a third blue top winner in heat three, as 126 Jamie Avery hustled his way to the front during some lively opening exchanges, before he edged ever further clear of 27 Kieren Bradford during the second phase of the race. The Remembering Rog Trophy final was outstanding. Lindsay led and had a commanding lead at the halfway point. However, seven laps from home, 979 Paul Moss spun and came to a halt in the pits bend. Out came the yellow flags and to Lindsay’s dismay, his lead evaporated. Flecken closed the gap for the single file restart, whilst he had 418 Ben Borthwick, 890 Paul Rice and 126 Jamie Avery in close contention. Lindsay survived one more lap as the leader, before Flecken and Borthwick muscled their way by, with Borthwick then grabbing the lead. However, Flecken refused to let Borthwick escape and shadowed him through the closing laps before launching an audacious last bend challenge. Borthwick was sent wide, but Flecken could not quite get the drive off the bend on the inside line and the two crossed the line separated by barely a car’s length. Rice completed the top three. The Grand National completed a set of blue grade winners as Lobb relieved 24 Jon Palmer of the lead late on to clinch victory.
2 Litre National Bangers
A decent showing of 20 drivers contested another batch of lively races. 166 Luke Gillbard ran in 254 Brandon Blight who then ground to a halt on the back straight where he was collected heavily by 271 Jordan Coleman. 648 Jamie Smith then buried 280 Jordan Fitzpatrick into the stationary Blight car as the red flags were introduced. The gallant Blight needed assistance from his car. When the race resumed, 846 Jacob Read led them away, but was spun by 286 Sophie Fasey which triggered a pile-up at the turnstiles end. 59 Mike Hamley spun gold top 362 Johnny James and 266 Scott Gillbard blasted 222 Ricky Walters. Amidst the chaos, 390 Alfie Tomkins broke free and he duly recorded a win in his first National Bangers race. The second heat began with 812 Adam Mitchell being bundled into the turnstile bend fence by a queue of cars behind him, and he was then collected by Luke Gillbard. Smith led the early laps, but 186 Lewis Fasey nipped past and Tomkins looked to do likewise, only to be unceremoniously picked up by Smith who thundered him into the turn four fence and the static Mitchell car which lost a wheel. 222 Ricky Walters joined in by crashing into Tomkins and he then rolled over on impact as the red flags appeared for the stray wheel. The race was restarted and Lewis Fasey extended his lead with his sister Sophie Fasey forging into second place as she overhauled 662 Jared Roe. The last of the action came as Scott Gillbard fired 59 Mike Hamley into the plating in the turnstile bend. A thrilling Destruction Derby ended the day, with Scott Gillbard managing to outlast the rest after a deluge of crashing involving 562 Jayden James, Walters, Luke Gillbard, Coleman and Smith.
Ministox
Heat one for the Ministox began with 476 Jack Wadling leading for many laps with his best display so far in his fledgling career. However, his car lost power, and 770 Delilah Farrell took up the running. As 257 Kieran Hibberd and 313 Charlie Weston swapped places in the contest for second place, Farrell kept clear at the front. However, in the closing stages she was baulked by backmarker 235 Kaitlin Harris who careered over the kerb and the infield. Hibberd edged past Farrell to take the lead, but heading into the final bend, 475 Mason Sealy made an ambitious dive. However, Sealy spun, and Hibberd held firm to take the win, with Farrell and 511 Lexi Crosbie completing the top three. Sealy made short work of the Cornish Championship, taking the lead on the opening lap from pole sitter Hibberd. 522 Jacob Mikulla gallantly fought his way to second whilst Crosbie completed the top three after overhauling Hibberd late on.
